Kicking off the final day of competition at the inaugural Cody Johnson Championship Event was the Professional Amateur Team Roping, where Clay Wier and Denim Ross teamed up to win the Heading Pro-Am title, and Joao Neto partnered with Dawson Graham to take home the Pro-Am Heeling title. This roping event featured many of the industry’s top ropers paired with amateurs, all vying for the prestigious title and the opportunity to rope with the industry’s best.

Clocking a leading aggregate time of 21.6 seconds on three steers, the Heading champions, Wier and Ross, were all smiles as they took home $4,000 and an extensive prize lineup that included a Henry .44 Mag Golden Boy Rifle, a custom guitar, and a Gist buckle.

“This was the first pro-am roping I’ve ever competed in. It was so exciting to draw professionals who make a living roping. Roping with pros is a special opportunity and makes my job a lot easier,” explained amateur header Wier.
